EU ENLARGEMENT WATCH |
Euratom Reform | By 2004 the EU is scheduled to open its membership to countries in Central and Eastern Europe. One area which will require significant investment and change is the operational practice of the energy sector, especially in attempt to bring it in line with current EU environmental norms and standards. EU Enlargement Watch is a foundation-funded initiative to review the environmental and energy policy implications of the enlargement of the European Union. The reports have been undertaken with environmental NGOs from across Eastern Europe. To date reports have been written which review the nuclear and gas sectors.
